Watts Towers Arts Center - The Watts Towers are a complex set of 17 separate sculptural pieces built on a residential lot in the community of Watts. Two of the towers rise to a height of nearly 100 feet. The sculptures are constructed from steel pipes and rods, wrapped with wire mesh, coated with mortar, and embedded with pieces of porcelain, tile and glass.

UCLA Film & Television Archive - A preserve for film and television of every genre, the archive has nearly a quarter of a million programs which are accessible to the public. Most of the screenings are presented at the James Bridges Theater in the form of film festivals focusing on the work of a director, actor, genre or time period.

Ripley's Believe it or not Museum - With more than 300 oddities on exhibit, from a statue of Marilyn Monroe made from shredded money to torture chamber devices, Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum is a curiosity and a record of all things strange. Although this is a fun museum, some of the exhibits might be too grotesque for younger children.

Hollywood Sign - This structure, located atop Mt. Lee in Griffith Park , is perhaps the most enduring symbol of Hollywood. The nine 50-foot (15 meter) letters can be seen from all over the L.A. basin, and occasionally even from passing aircraft. The best places to snap a photo of the sign are from the Griffith Park Observatory and Hollywood & Highland. Hiking to the sign is not permitted.

The Gamble House - An example of American Arts and Crafts style architecture. The house and furnishings were designed by Charles and Henry Greene in 1908. The house, a National Historic Landmark, is owned and operated by the University of Southern California and is open for public tours.

Norton Simon Museum - European paintings and sculpture range from the 14th to the 20th century. Page Museum at the La Brea Tar Pits - The Museum is located at the Rancho La Brea Tar Pits, one of the world's most famous fossil localities, recognized for having an unusually diverse assemblage of extinct Ice Age plants and animals. Oran Z Pan African Black Facts & Wax Museum - This museum presents wax figures of African American personalities. It also showcases the eras through authentic clothing, uniforms and artifacts.

Travel Town Museum - This place is heaven for train-loving tots. An interactive museum in the old-fashioned sense of the word, youngsters can climb in, around or on all the attractions, and many of them will want to do so for hours upon end.

Sunset Ranch Hollywood - If you're an out-of-towner and miss riding the plains, you can cure your equestrian nostalgia by renting a horse and riding through the Hollywood Hills and Griffith Park. There are plenty of options here, including one and two hour rides during the day for anyone over the age of seven. A very popular option is the Friday night moonlight ride.

The Magic Castle - This Victorian mansion built in 1908 in the Hollywood Hills is home to the Academy of Magical Arts, an organization dedicated to the advancement of the art of magic. It's an interesting house to pass by on your walk or drive through Hollywood.
