Located
in Greenbrier which is about 40 miles north of Little Rock. This is
the only internationally recognized sanctuary that accepts any elephant.
Currently they have both African and Asian elephants. If you are over
18, you can participate in an Elephant Experience Weekend where you
can help feed, water, bathe and care for the elephants. The sanctuary
hosts an annual International School for Elephant Management course
that covers every aspect of elephant care and management.
This
cave systme is located in the Ozark National Forest in northern Arkansas.
It is a 3 level cave system, two are open for guided tours. The Dripstone
Trail explores the upper level of the caverns. The Discovery Trail runs
through the lower portion of the caverns. There is also a “Wild Cave”
tour which allows access to undeveloped parts of the middle section.
The caverns include an underground river and the world’s largest flowstone.
The temperature inside the cavern is a constant 58 degrees. It is a
living cave. There are also things to do above ground. There is camping,
fishing, bike trails, swimming areas, hiking trails and a beautiful
waterfall and year-round spring.
