River Market - Home to a variety of festivals and concerts, this park is the center of activity in Little Rock. Here you can see the actual "little rock" that inspired European-explorer Benard de la Harpe to name the city. Children can enjoy the playground, while adults check out the history pavilion, which offers background on the park and the city. Bands often perform at the amphitheater. The Museum of Discovery - At this museum, "hands on" is the rule. Children and adults are encouraged to participate in the exhibits and displays, and have fun learning about science, technology, nature and history along the way. Some of the interactive exhibits include the Health Hall, where you can learn about parts of the body; Worlds of the Forest, which includes an insect zoo; and the Tech Lab, which lets you build your own robot. Riverfest - Riverfest is a celebration of visual and performing arts that is held annually over Memorial Day weekend on the banks of the Arkansas River in Little Rock and North Little Rock. Riverfest is the largest single event in the state of Arkansas with a rich tradition. Annual Barbershop Harmony Show - Enjoy an evening of acappella harmony presented by the award-winning Diamond State Chorus. Also appearing will be several groups from the greater Little Rock area. Songs range from the treasured gems from the early part of the 20th century, up through modern tunes re-written for the barbershop style. Annual Taste of the Town - Taste of the Town has become one of the area’s leading business networking events with more than 30 local restaurants, caterers and drink distributors participating and over 1,200 attendees.
