Presque Isle State Park

Presque Isle State ParkLocated on the shores of Lake Erie in northern Pennsylvania. This 3,200-acre sandy peninsula in Lake Erie is Pennsylvania’s only “seashore.” It is a favorite spot for migrating birds and many of the state’s endangered, threatened and rare species are found here. Activities here include swimming, boating, fishing, hiking, and biking. The Tom Ridge Environmental Center is located here with interactive exhibits and a 75-foot observation tower.

National Civil War Museum

National Civil War MuseumLocated in Harrisburg. This museum covers the time period from 1850 through 1876. It has collections of artifacts, manuscripts, documents, and photographs. There are artifacts of famous people but the majority of the collections come from average soldiers from the North and South. They have permanent exhibits and traveling exhibits. The tours are self-guided and most visitors spend a couple of hours.
