Hawaii Spotlights

Halawa Beach Park

Halawa Beach ParkLocated along the eastern shore of Molokai. This park is made up of two nice swimming beaches. One is a bit rocky and the other is a curving beach with white sand that gently slopes into the sea. Swimming and snorkeling can be done in the summer when the water is calm. The winter brings larger waves and this becomes a great surfing beach. Picnicking and fishing are also popular activities here.

Opaeka’a Falls

Opaeka’a FallsLocated on the island of Kauai. One of the island’s most accessible major waterfalls. This waterfall cascades 151 feet into a hidden pool. Most of the time it is a double cascade and flows year round. There is a lookout on the road but no trails to the top or bottom of the falls. The best time to view the falls is in the early morning. Across the road is the ancient temple of Poli’ahu Heiau. Also nearby is the bell stone that was believed to be used anciently to ward off danger.
