Located
in Rising Fawn 15 miles west of LaFayette near the Alabama and Tennessee
borders. The park straddles a deep gorge and is one of the most scenic
parks in the state. The most spectacular view into the canyon is an
easy walk from the picnic area but there are other great hiking trails
to explore the rim or the canyon floor. The Waterfalls Trail takes you
to 2 of the most beautiful waterfalls in the state. Overnight camping
is available in yurts, cottages, campgrounds or tent sites. There is
an onsite outfitter that offers guided hikes and cave tours. Reservations
are required. Other activities at the park include disc golf, picnicking,
geocaching, biking, tennis, and fishing.
Located
in Atlanta. The Cyclorama painting is 42 feet tall, is 358 feet in circumference,
covers 15, 030 square feet and is said to be the largest painting in
the world. It portrays the Battle of Atlanta that was fought on July
22, 1864 during the American Civil War. Artifacts from the war are displayed
on two floors and include uniforms, weapons, and photographs. The steam
locomotive Texas is also on display here.
