Air Mobility Command Museum

Air Mobility Command MuseumLocated at Dover Air Force Base. This is the only museum dedicated to airlift and air refueling history. Visit an exhibit about the Berlin Airlift, learn about the Korean war, learn about the history of aerial refueling, or visit the exhibit tower and watch the arrivals and departures on the base’s runways. Outside the museum is the last C-54M in existence, a C-121 constellation which was the first commercial transport plane to travel at 300 mph and the last of the great American propeller-driven airliners, a B-17G Flying Fortress, and many other airplanes. Admission and parking are free.

Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge

Bombay Hook National Wildlife RefugeLocated in Smyrna. The refuge stretches 8 miles along Delaware Bay and covers over 16,000 acres. Most of the refuge is tidal salt marsh with some mudflats, tidal pools, rivers and streams. It is among the largest unfragmented marsh in the mid-Atlantic. There are 5 walking trails, 3 observation towers, a 12-mile drive, educational programs and displays. Some areas are closed during hunting season so check before you go. Migrating and wintering waterfowl visit the refuge each fall and winter. Thousands of migrating shorebirds visit in the spring.
