February 23 - March 29 - World Ice Art Championships, Fairbanks - With over 180 sculptures, the World Ice Art Championships are one of the premier events for lovers of ice sculpture. There also will be fun events such as Fred Meyer maze and Alyeska Puppy Pond which will celebrate the area's unique heritage. February 27 - March 8 - Fur Rondy Festival, Anchorage - Only in Anchorage, Alaska will you find the streets covered with snow for the World Championship Sled Dog Races, the Rondy Running of the Reindeer, and more awesome events! April 6-12 - Alaska Folk Festival, Juneau - The Alaska Folk Festival brings the entire town of Juneau together for performances ranging from school groups to professionals to at-home hobbyists. May 1-16 - Juneau Jazz and Classics Festival, Juneau - David Bromberg kicks off the Junueau Jazz and Classics Festival with his pleasing American Folk Music. August 15-16 - Big Wild Life Runs, Anchorage - The Big Wild Life Runs offer races for runners and walkers, serious and recreational runners, kids and adults, and short distances or a full marathon.
